Prof. Dr. Ahmet Faik IMAMOGLU (1956-2012)
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Faik İmamoğlu was born in Trabzon in 1956. After completing his university education at the Istanbul Youth and Sports Academy, he worked as an expert at the General Directorate of Physical Education. In the following years, he completed his Master's Degree at the Gazi University Institute of Social Sciences and his Doctorate at the Selçuk University Institute of Social Sciences. In 1983, he started working as a Research Assistant at the Gazi University Faculty of Education, Department of Physical Education and Sports, where he received the title of "Assistant Professor" in 1991 and "Associate Professor" in 1993. In 2000, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Faik İmamoğlu became a professor at the Gazi University School of Physical Education and Sports, Department of Sports Management, and served as the Head of the Department of Sports Management and the Director of the School of Physical Education and Sports. In addition to his academic life, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Faik İmamoğlu also held important administrative positions in the practice of sports. In addition to his duties in many sports federations, he served as the president of the Turkish Badminton Federation, one of the important sports branches, between 1997 and 2004, and made significant contributions to the development of Turkish Badminton in national and international arenas. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Faik İmamoğlu, who left us in the most productive years of his life academically and administratively, aimed to develop Turkish sports throughout his life and served sports both in practice and academic fields. We commemorate our valuable professor with respect and express our endless gratitude for the values he added to us.
